One of the oldest-established brands of German luxury cars, Audi began in 1899, when founder August Horch established the A. Horch & Cie company in Cologne. The Company produced its first car in 1901. In 1932, it formed the Auto Union AG, which united luxury car brands Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer, each of which was represented on the trademark four-ring logo gracing all Audi luxury car rentals provided by Los Angeles Prestige.

After being dismantled during World War I, the Union re-established itself and continued creating its signature front-wheel drive, two-stroke engine vehicles. (Audi and its predecessors are also known for technological innovations, including Wankel and 8-cylinder engines, lightweight construction, and aerodynamic design.) The Union became a subsidiary of Volkswagen in 1966, and its first vehicles under this union were marketed as “Audis”, thereby revitalizing the Audi name. Audi entered the U.S. market in 1969 and, over the next 40 years, became a sensation among sports car enthusiasts in the U.S. and throughout the world.
