The Lamborghini Company was formed in 1963 in Italy by Ferruccio Lamborghini, a sports car enthusiast with a desire to compete with Ferrari. Over the next several years, Lamborghini gained increasing attention from the luxury car buff community. The firm was re-sold to private investors in the early 80’s; to Chrysler in 1987; to private investors in 1994; and to German luxury car firm Audi in 1998.
